Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
